Up until the last season, Patrick Mahomes was counted among the top five highest-paid quarterbacks in the NFL but then the 2024 offseason happened, and within a span of few months, the elite quarterback is nowhere to be found in the top-10 list, let alone top-5.

Many expected the Kansas City Chiefs superstar quarterback to start feeling insecure about his 10-year contract and feel underpaid in the league– having quarterbacks less potent than him earning around $10 million more than him. But it turns out that thought didn’t even cross Mahomes’ mind.

Rather than being upset about the mammoth deals around him, the latest being Jordan Love and Tua Tagovailoa who became the highest-paid quarterbacks after signing $220 million and $212.4 million extensions respectively, Mahomes is thrilled with what’s happening in the NFL. Love became the highest-paid quarterback with an annual income of $55 million, followed by Joe Burrow and Trevor Lawrence.

The three-time Super Bowl champion said in his opinion, he is “doing pretty well myself.” His main focus has always been to win games and provide for his family and based on his record, Mahomes is quite good at it.

That’s why Mahomes is not too concerned about getting the highest-paid deal from his franchise as he admitted himself. “I feel like I’m doing a great job of that.”

“Not necessarily,” said Mahomes when asked if he felt underpaid after leading his team to three Super Bowl victories in five years but still not getting a deserving deal.

He also acknowledged the restructuring of his contract and enabling the cash flow in certain years and spots and said that became possible because of the good communication and relationship he has with the front office and owner Clark Hunt.
